Plastic extrusion machines are key equipment in the plastic processing industry, widely used in the production of plastic pipes, profiles, films and other products, and the heating system directly affects the plasticizing effect of plastic raw materials and product quality. Cartridge heaters have become the preferred heating component of modern plastic extrusion machines due to their high efficiency, energy saving and precise temperature control, replacing traditional band heaters and becoming the mainstream choice in the industry.
The barrel of the plastic extrusion machine needs to be heated in sections to realize the melting, plasticizing and homogenization of plastic raw materials. Different sections have different temperature requirements, and the cartridge heater can be customized according to the heating demand of each section of the barrel, embedded in the barrel wall for direct contact heating. Compared with traditional band heaters wrapped on the surface, cartridge heaters have higher heat transfer efficiency, faster temperature rise, more uniform temperature distribution, avoid local overheating of the barrel, prevent plastic degradation and discoloration, and improve the plasticizing quality of raw materials.
In terms of energy saving, cartridge heaters have obvious advantages for plastic extrusion machines. Traditional band heaters have large heat loss, and most of the heat is dissipated into the air, with low energy utilization rate. The cartridge heater is embedded inside the barrel, and the heat is directly transferred to the barrel, with minimal heat loss, which can save 20%-35% of energy consumption compared with band heaters, and shorten the barrel preheating time by more than 30%, improving the production efficiency of the extrusion machine.
The selection of cartridge heaters for plastic extrusion machines needs to consider the type of plastic raw materials and process parameters. For ordinary plastics such as PP and PE, the heating temperature is low, and 304 stainless steel sheath cartridge heaters can be selected; for high-temperature engineering plastics such as ABS and PC, the heating temperature is high, and Incoloy alloy sheath heaters with better high-temperature resistance are selected to adapt to long-term high-temperature operation. The power is calculated according to the barrel diameter, length and heating temperature of the extrusion machine to avoid over-power or under-power, ensuring the best heating effect.
In addition, the cartridge heater matched with an intelligent temperature control system can realize precise temperature control of each section of the extrusion machine barrel. The built-in sensor of the heater monitors the temperature in real time, feeds back to the control system, automatically adjusts the heating power, maintains a constant temperature, and ensures the stability of the extrusion process. For high-speed plastic extrusion production lines, the cartridge heater has a long service life and low failure rate, reducing equipment downtime and maintenance costs.
In the daily use of plastic extrusion machines, regular maintenance of cartridge heaters is also required. Clean the surface carbon deposits and plastic residues regularly, check the firmness of the lead wire connection and the integrity of the sheath, and replace aging heaters in time. Correct selection and maintenance can make the cartridge heater exert the best performance, improve the product quality and production efficiency of plastic extrusion machines, and reduce production costs for plastic processing enterprises.
