A large number of industrial scenarios are in humid environments, such as food processing, textile printing and dyeing, marine engineering and underground equipment. Humid air and liquid infiltration will cause dampness of the internal insulation layer of cartridge heaters, leading to reduced insulation performance, short circuit and even burnout. Therefore, targeted waterproof and moisture-proof design is crucial to ensure the stable operation of cartridge heaters in humid environments.

The core of the waterproof and moisture-proof design of cartridge heaters lies in the sealing structure. High-quality waterproof cartridge heaters adopt multi-layer sealing technology at the lead wire outlet and end cover: first, use high-temperature resistant epoxy resin or silicone sealing glue to fill and seal, blocking the gap between the lead wire and the sheath; then, through laser full welding technology, the end cover and the sheath are tightly welded to form a rigid sealing layer, completely preventing moisture and water vapor from entering the interior. The waterproof level can reach IP68, which can operate normally even in immersed liquid environments.

The selection of sheath materials is also an important part of moisture-proof and waterproof. In humid and slightly corrosive environments, 316L stainless steel sheath is preferred, which has good waterproof and anti-corrosion properties, not easy to rust and penetrate; in high-humidity and strong salt spray environments such as marine engineering, Hastelloy alloy or titanium alloy sheath is selected, which has stronger anti-permeability and corrosion resistance, and can adapt to harsh humid and corrosive conditions.

The internal materials of waterproof cartridge heaters are also specially treated. The filling magnesium oxide powder adopts high-purity and low-hygroscopicity grade, and is dried at high temperature before filling to remove internal moisture, avoiding insulation failure caused by moisture absorption. The resistance wire is coated with anti-oxidation and moisture-proof coating to prevent corrosion and short circuit in humid environments.

In addition, the lead wire part is also designed with waterproof performance. High-temperature resistant silicone or neoprene insulated lead wires are selected, with good waterproof and aging resistance, and the connection between the lead wire and the heater is reinforced and sealed to prevent moisture from entering along the lead wire. For scenarios requiring long-term immersion in liquid, a waterproof connector can be customized to further improve the overall waterproof performance.

In daily use, even if a waterproof cartridge heater is used, regular maintenance is required. Check the integrity of the sealing layer and lead wire insulation regularly, clean the surface water and impurities, and avoid damage to the sealing structure caused by external forces. With professional waterproof and moisture-proof design, cartridge heaters can operate stably in humid environments for a long time, with a service life increased by more than 2 times compared with ordinary heaters, solving the heating failure problem caused by moisture.
