All 900 units are 240V, 750W, 12.7mm diameter by 250mm long, made from stainless steel 321, which offers excellent resistance to the vibration and impact that is common in mining equipment. The heaters feature a special reinforced lead wire connection that can withstand the constant vibration of the mining trucks without breaking, and are filled with high-density magnesium oxide insulation to ensure good thermal conductivity even in the dusty environment of the mine.
The client is a leading manufacturer of mining trucks in South Africa, and their equipment is used in mines across the country. They needed heaters that could preheat the fuel systems of their trucks in cold weather, to ensure reliable starting and operation. Our engineering team worked closely with the client to design the heaters to fit the specific fuel system configuration of their trucks, including the length of the heated zone and the position of the lead wire exit.
The swaging stage is one of the most critical parts of the production process, as it compresses the magnesium oxide insulation to improve thermal conductivity and mechanical strength. Our team uses computer-controlled swaging machines to ensure that the swaging ratio is consistent across all units, with a tolerance of ±0.02mm on the final diameter. So far, we've completed the swaging for 400 of the 900 units, and all of them have passed the diameter testing, with all dimensions within the specified tolerances.
